GS should only be used as a general basis... For example, just from GS you know for a fact that someone isn't geared for ICC if their GS is something like 3500, but 4500 is grand (i was in an ICC10 with a hunter with 4.5k GS, he was 2nd on DPS - out-dpsing both a 5.2k gs retadin and another 5k gs retadin).

Gearscore is the result of people like the poster above me, and in what way is examining the skill of a person in an instance or a raid , so worse than looking at their gearscore, and almost always insulting and turning those people down. Gear score is only a tool to measure one's level of gear to determine if they atleast have the tools to do a good job. I'm an elitists so what...I use GS for when I have to pug things I don't have ppl in naxx gear trying to be carried or do content way above their gear!

Gearscore are for dumb people. They live by the gearscore and die by the gearscore, but still don't follow the Gearscore levels set out by the addon itself for different content.

ppl whining about GS: Go make a raid and say "LFM ICC no gear required" how would that go? Suure they got skills, but 2k dps isn't enough right? Are you then gonna say "LFM ICC T9 required" ? Then u're judging on their gear again... So should we suddenly let ppl with green items into ICC 25?

A death knight with spellpower gear could have a gs above 5k. Many people just equip things with the most gearscore, even if the parts are actually worse. Especially trinkets and items with hitrating suffer from this. I've seen players with more then 200 points over the hitcap, but gs says they are cool!

I'll admit that gearscore has its uses, but it is by no means the best indicator. people seem to misread the quote thinking that gearscore is meant as one way or the other. It's meant as a median line to evaluate the potential that someone will be able to do the job they need to do. Some people seem to think that gear score means people can do their DPS/Tanking/Healing. I had a guild run I missed where their DK didn't even know his basic rotation yet had the gear.

We are not talking about retards who equip crappy gear because it gives them better GS, every tard can ruin a good addon. I am talking about those who like to see their GS rise when they upgrade their T9 to T10

The whole disussion on Gearscore can be argued wether it's actually good or not. I personally look at it as a way of indicating wether people have gone to raids or not depending on the gear they have and the individual gearscore on the items they have equipped. After that point then i use achievments as another indicator. Achievments don't usually lie about what progression they've got :)

Meh, Gearscore is only too see if their gear is worth checking. Best comment about Gearscore IMO.
